The Pharmacy Technician prepares and organizes pharmacy medications by name and dosage, as listed on patient orders. The Pharmacy Technician II will provide safe and accurate medication services and will support all those involved in direct patient care.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Primary responsibility is performing a medication history on patients arriving through the emergency department and via direct admission.
Based out of the emergency department
Interviews patients to obtain an accurate and thorough medication history
Calls retail pharmacy, nursing home, and physician’s office when medication clarification is required
Completed medication history is entered into the electronic medical record
Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in principle duties.
Maintains operational expertise in and actively provides coverage of the technician services provided by
Central Pharmacy
IV Room
Delivery
Controlled Substances
Oversees appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems
Accurately oversees the management of medication inventories and the preparation and delivery of patient-specific medication doses.
Supports practice in decentralized areas.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
High school diploma or equivalent
Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license
Preferred one year of contemporary hospital experience
