Provide a full range of nursing practice. Primary nursing responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. Standards of professional performance required include quality practice, education/competency, professional practice evaluation, collegiality, collaboration, and ethics, research/best practice integration, resource utilization and leadership. The ONS standards are used to provide comprehensive care to the patients and family in the management of the disease and treatment related symptoms.

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Principles of patient/family teaching.
• Knowledge of cancer and cancer care, including radiation therapy and pain management.
• Ability to perform effective and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to telephone triage.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and adapt to changes.
• Basic computer skills.

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an Associate of Science Degree and have a current CA RN license.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• One year experience in the care of oncology patients.

Preferred:

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
• Previous Radiation Oncology nursing experience.
• Spanish bilingual skills to communicate effective with patients and families.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
