Schedule: Full Time - Days/Nights - 36 hours per week
Unit Summary
STC -4 is a 29 bed Nursing Unit- non-telemetry located in our Special Treatment Center. There are 10 designated palliative / hospice beds. This unit is designed for the care of the palliative/hospice care patients with large rooms for families to be with their loved ones during this difficult time. Working on STC-4 gives you the unique opportunity to work with Palliative/Hospice and Acute Care patients. Working on STC-4 as a Nurse will give you a unique opportunity to develop strong nursing skills with high acuity patients. The unit offers you the chance to develop top tier patient interaction skills by working with our hospice team and palliative care teams. Working on STC-4 offers you not only the chance to develop and use your clinical skills, but also the chance to find out what it means to be a true provider of end-of-life care. Our nurses take pride in caring for the patient and families. Nurses are empowered to obtain their Certified Hospice/Palliative Nurse (CHPN) within a year of their service.
Working on STC-4, you can expect your clinical skills to become greater than ever imagined due to the high acuity of patients and verities of scope which include:
Sepsis Patients
Diabetes care
Transfers from Medical Surgical units and ICU Patients requiring medication regimens (non-telemetry)
Admissions from ED (Non- telemetry)
High level Pain control - PCA
Patients with impaired respiratory status
Patients needing care for nutritional support
Infection Control
GI abnormalities
Pulmonary
Wound care
Trach Care
Additional Support for patients and families:
Palliative Care Team - provides a specially-trained team palliative/Hospice physicians, Hospitalists, Social work, Comprehensive Care Managers, Chaplaincy and Child life. The team offers music therapy, pet therapy, emotional support, devotion and prayer.
Additional Support for staff:
We provide emotional and psychological support from the Staff Well-being Assistance During Difficult Life Events (SWADDLE) program, SPC team, director, manager, supervisor, chaplains during times of high-level stress and multiple deaths by meeting with staff members for debriefings, supportive readings, emotional support and a designated space on the unit for staff to relax and recharge.

Requirements of the Ideal Candidate
Graduate of RN School of Nursing
ADN required; BSN preferred
Active RN License
Minimum of 6 Months of RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
